What Filter Size to choose?   The main criteria for selecting the correct filter size is flow rate, not pipe size. LAKOS TwistIIClean filters are designed to operate in the following flow ranges:
 
T2C-075 (3/4”):  0-25 US GPM
T2C-100 (1”): 0-39 US GPM
T2C-150 (1 ½”):  0-78 US GPM
 
Pipe fitting adapters can be used with LAKOS TwistIIClean filters to accommodate the size of your water supply pipe size. More details about selecting the right size filter, including filter specifications, is shown in LAKOS Publication LS-870.

When sand gets inside a residential water supply it can cause damage to plumbing fixtures, clothes washers, etc. Not to mention clog filters and leave sediment in water, ice, the bathtub or the toilet. LAKOS can prevent this in several ways. If the water supply comes from a water well, a LAKOS Separator can be installed in the well, preventing sand from ever entering the water system.   Call sales to inquire about a Separator.

•     Install vertically with purge exit pointing downward
•     Protect from freezing
•     Allow clearance for operation and maintenance
•     Plan for placement of a bucket or hose to catch purge water
•     When installing outdoors in a sunny location, install optional sunshield to prevent algae growth in filter bowl

This is 3/4" and 1" are the most popular size for residential well water systems or whole house filtering. The 3/4" unit T2C filter unit is most often used in residential systems for filtering out sand and debris from well water systems and from old corroding city water lines. It may be used as a pre-filter before high-end water treatment systems.  When used in a residential system, it will help keep appliances and faucets clean of any debris or hard water deposits that may enter the residential water lines. The 1" filter unit can be used in irrigation, where there is not a heavy load of particles in the water supply or where some additional filtering is needed, such as for drip irrigation systems.
