PVC Sch 40 Slip Cap Glue-On
This is a PVC slip-on Cap for closing off the end of a PVC pipe or fitting. Slip-On is a Socket end for connecting to unthreaded pipes or fittings.
SYSTEM & COMPONENTS
CAUTION: The system shall be designed and installed so as not to pull the component (valve, fitting, etc.) in any direction. Pipe must be cut and installed in such a manner as to avoid all stress loads associated with bending, pulling, or shifting. Valve shall be supported.
CAUTION: All component connectors and connecting pipe should be inspected for any breaking, chipping, gouging or other visible damage before proceeding. All joining components must be clean and dry. All components and pipe shall be removed from their packaging or containers and exposed to the environment for a minimum of one hour in order to thermally balance all components. Installation temperatures should be between 40° F and 110° F.
CAUTION: BEFORE VALVES OR SYSTEM COMPONENTS ARE CYCLED, all dirt, sand, grit or other material shall be flushed from the system. This is to prevent scarring of internal components; e.g., ball, cup, wedge, seats, etc.
CAUTION: All valves with fixed socket end connectors in the body must be installed in the open position to aid in evaporation of solvent vapors which can attack internal components. WARNING: TAKE EXTRA CARE THAT NO PRIMER OR SOLVENT CEMENT IS ALLOWED TO COME IN CONTACT WITH THE BALL OR OTHER INTERNAL VALVE COMPONENTS.
WARNING: Systems should not be operated or flushed out at flow velocities greater than 5 feet per second.
SOLVENT CEMENT CONNECTIONS
CAUTION: BEFORE APPLYING PRIMER AND CEMENT, appropriate safety precautions should be taken. Primer and Cement should be stored in the shade between 40°F and 110°F. Eliminate all ignition sources. Avoid breathing of vapors. Use only with adequate ventilation; explosion-proof general mechanical ventilation or local exhaust is recommended to maintain vapor concentrations below recommended exposure limits. In confined or partially enclosed areas, a NIOSH-approved organic vapor cartridge respirator with full face-piece is recommended. Containers should be kept tightly closed when not in use, and covered as much as possible when in use. Avoid frequent contact with the skin; wearing PVA coated protective gloves and impervious apron are recommended. Avoid any contact with eyes; splash-proof chemical goggles are recommended.
THREADED CONNECTIONS
CAUTION: Threaded pipe connections require application of a quality grade thread sealant to seal joint assembly.
WARNING: Please follow the sealant manufacturers’ application / installation instructions. Choice of an appropriate thread sealant other than those listed above is at the discretion of the installer. 1 or 2 turns beyond FINGER TIGHT is generally all that is required to make a sound plastic threaded connection. Unnecessary OVER TIGHTENING will cause DAMAGE TO BOTH PIPE AND FITTING.
SEAL & GASKET LUBRICANTS
WARNING: SOME LUBRICANTS, INCLUDING VEGETABLE OILS, ARE KNOWN TO CAUSE STRESS CRACKING IN THERMOPLASTIC MATERIALS. A mild soap solution or commercially available pipe gasket lubricant suitable for PVC and CPVC is recommended for use where lubrication is needed for installation or maintenance service. Choice of lubricant is at the discretion of the installer.
